The government of Telangana has increased the monthly pension of the Aasara scheme from Rs. 1500 to Rs. 3550 for the old age, widows, and disabled people. The Chief Minister of Telangana, K. Chandrasekhar Rao announced this increase in the pension amount to the beneficiaries of the Aasara scheme on 28th October 2021. The new pension amount will be effective from November 2021. The Aasara scheme was launched by the Telangana government in 2014 to provide financial assistance to the poor and vulnerable sections of society. The scheme covers old age people, widows, single women, weavers, toddy tappers, and disabled persons. The scheme aims to provide social security to these people and improve their living standards. K. Chandrasekhar Rao, also known as KCR, has been promoting this scheme and other welfare schemes in Telangana as part of his vision to make Telangana a model state by 2023. Under his leadership, the state government has taken several initiatives to provide better healthcare, education, and housing facilities to the people of Telangana. The increase in the pension amount under the Aasara scheme is another step in this direction. The government has allocated Rs. 2813 crore for the Aasara scheme in the current financial year, which will benefit around 41 lakh beneficiaries.
