You opened up your brand new self-directed 401k plan, you're going out there and you're buying real estate you got some rental properties in there, but you're missing the excitement of the stock market. Can you still have a brokerage account inside your self-directed 401k. Simple answer is Yes and it's relatively easy to do. This is what you need to do you, contact the brokerage firm of your choice and I know for a fact that TD ameritrade and schwab and fidelity allow this and you tell them, hey brokerage firm of my choice, I want to open up a brokerage account for my self-directed 401k and this is very important.
