He announced that the minimum retirement age would remain at 62, despite plans to raise it to 64. The announcement comes after months of debate and negotiations between the government and trade unions. The proposed increase to the minimum retirement age was a major sticking point for the unions, and the government’s decision to keep it at 62 is seen as a victory for them.
