The collapse of two American banks is sending shock waves around the world.. and putting pressure on markets. Investors are worried about a contagion effect beyond the US. Asian shares are seeing steep losses on Tuesday and European banking stocks suffered their biggest drop in a year. US President Biden sought to reassure depositors on Monday - insisting he will provide for the safety of the banking system. Meanwhile, however, ratings agency Moody's downgraded the debt ratings of collapsed Signature Bank deep into junk territory. Moody's also placed the ratings of six other U.S. banks under review for a downgrade.
