Checking Refrigerant Charge for R-410a Condensing Units Using Sub-cooling Method

This video is to help new technicians learn the basics of checking the charge on an air conditioner. The EPA requires all persons handling refrigerant to be EPA 608 certified. Refrigerant charge is an important factor in the proper operation of a condensing unit. If the charge is incorrect, the system may not operate efficiently and may even cause damage to the equipment. The sub-cooling method is a reliable way to check the refrigerant charge of an R-410a condensing unit. The sub-cooling method involves measuring the temperature difference between the refrigerant leaving the condenser and the refrigerant entering the evaporator. If the difference is greater than the manufacturer’s specifications, then the charge is too low. Conversely, if the difference is less than the manufacturer’s specifications, then the charge is too high. To begin the sub-cooling method, the condensing unit must be running for at least 30 minutes. The condensing unit should be running at full load and the temperature of the indoor and outdoor air should be stable. Once the unit has been running for 30 minutes, the technician should measure the temperature of the refrigerant leaving the condenser. This is done with a thermometer or temperature gun. The technician should then measure the temperature of the refrigerant entering the evaporator. This is done with a thermometer or temperature gun as well. The difference between the two temperatures should be compared to the manufacturer’s specifications. If the difference is greater than the manufacturer’s specifications, then the charge is too low and additional refrigerant should be added. If the difference is less than the manufacturer’s specifications, then the charge is too high and some refrigerant should be removed. The sub-cooling method is a reliable way to check the refrigerant charge of an R-410a condensing unit. If the charge is incorrect, the system may not operate efficiently and may even cause damage to the equipment. To ensure the system is operating properly, it is important to regularly check the refrigerant charge using the sub-cooling method. https://inflationprotection.org/checking-refrigerant-charge-for-r-410a-condensing-units-using-sub-cooling-method/?feed_id=67971&_unique_id=63e00fbf03092 #Inflation #Retirement #GoldIRA #Wealth #Investing #airconditioner #bryant #carrier #charging #daynight #heil #refrigerant #tempstar #401a #airconditioner #bryant #carrier #charging #daynight #heil #refrigerant #tempstar
