The European Commission (EC) has given the green light to the purchase of Activision Blizzard by the French media giant, Vivendi. This deal was approved by the EC after a long investigation into the potential anti-competitive effects of the transaction. The purchase of Activision Blizzard by Vivendi will create a media giant with a portfolio of video game titles, films, and music. This could potentially create a monopoly in the video game industry, as Vivendi will control a large number of popular titles such as Call of Duty, World of Warcraft, and Overwatch.
