The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has raised the repo rate by 25 basis points to 6.5%, in a bid to curb inflation and support economic growth. This is the second consecutive rate hike by the central bank, after it raised the repo rate by 25 basis points in June. The repo rate is the rate at which the RBI lends money to commercial banks. By raising the repo rate, the central bank is trying to control inflation, which has been on the rise in recent months.
