Annuity in NPS, also known as National Pension System, plays an essential role in providing guaranteed regular income after retirement. It is a pension scheme that was first introduced by the Indian government in 2004, to provide an affordable solution to the pension crisis. Under the NPS scheme, an individual has to contribute a certain amount of money on a regular basis until their retirement. Once an individual attains the age of 60, they can withdraw up to 60% of the accumulated corpus as a lump sum amount, and the remaining 40% of the corpus is utilized to purchase an annuity plan. Annuity in NPS is a financial product that converts an individual's retirement savings into regular income, which continues for the rest of their life. Annuity plans can be purchased from the life insurance company or any Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority (PFRDA) registered annuity service provider. Purchasing an annuity plan is mandatory under the NPS scheme, as it ensures that an individual receives a regular pension income for their entire life. An individual has a choice to select from different annuity options available, such as: 1. Life annuity: Under this option, an individual receives a fixed amount of pension income throughout their lifetime, with no guarantee of return of the capital invested. 2. Joint-life annuity: In this option, pension income is received by the individual throughout their lifetime, and after their demise, the spouse continues to receive the fixed amount of pension. 3. Return of Purchase Price: If an individual selects this option, the annuity provider returns the purchase price after the individual's death, to their nominee. 4. Annuity Certain: In this option, an individual receives a fixed amount of pension income for a certain period, say 5 or 10 years, and after that, the pension income stops. Annuity in NPS is tax-efficient, as only 40% of the corpus is used for purchasing an annuity, and the remaining 60% is tax-free. The pension income received from an annuity plan is also taxable under the regular income tax slab. In conclusion, annuity in NPS is a crucial feature of the scheme, which ensures guaranteed income for life after retirement. It is essential to carefully evaluate the annuity options available before selecting one, as it can have a significant impact on an individual's pension income. https://inflationprotection.org/what-is-annuity-in-nps-annuity-in-nps-nps-annuity-nps-annuity-and-pension-nps-pension-nps/?feed_id=77890&_unique_id=640f9a420e668 #Inflation #Retirement #GoldIRA #Wealth #Investing #AnnuityinNPS #annuityinnpsafterdeath #annuitymeaninginnps #annuitynps #annuityplaninnps #annuityplansfornps #annuitypurchaseinnps #annuityserviceproviderfornps #bestannuityplanfornps #bestannuityserviceproviderinnps #bestnpsannuityplan #NPS #npsannuity #npsannuityafterdeath #npsannuityamountafterdeath #npsannuityinterestrate #npsannuitymeaning #npsannuityoptions #npsannuityplanoptions #npsannuityplans #npsannuityscheme #RetirementAnnuity #AnnuityinNPS #annuityinnpsafterdeath #annuitymeaninginnps #annuitynps #annuityplaninnps #annuityplansfornps #annuitypurchaseinnps #annuityserviceproviderfornps #bestannuityplanfornps #bestannuityserviceproviderinnps #bestnpsannuityplan #NPS #npsannuity #npsannuityafterdeath #npsannuityamountafterdeath #npsannuityinterestrate #npsannuitymeaning #npsannuityoptions #npsannuityplanoptions #npsannuityplans #npsannuityscheme
