The Supreme Court of India witnessed a momentous day on 7 November 2018 as three of its judges bid adieu to their judicial career. Justice Kurian Joseph, Justice Madan B. Lokur, and Justice Ranjan Gogoi, who were part of some of the most high-profile and sensational cases in recent times retired from their positions, leaving behind an illustrious legacy. The solemn ceremony at the Supreme Court was marked by emotional speeches and heartfelt tributes by their fellow judges and the members of the Bar. Chief Justice of India, Ranjan Gogoi, who is himself retiring in November 2019, spoke warmly about his colleagues and emphasized the importance of their contribution to the judiciary. Among the retiring judges, Justice Kurian Joseph is perhaps the most well-known for his outspokenness and his deep commitment to justice. He hails from the southern state of Kerala and was appointed as a judge of the Supreme Court in 2013. During his tenure, he was involved in several prominent cases including the Sabarimala temple entry case, the Aadhaar case, and the Judge Loya case. Justice Joseph was known for his independent stance and his unflinching conviction to uphold the rule of law. In his emotional farewell speech, Justice Joseph thanked his colleagues and the members of the Bar and spoke passionately about the need for the judiciary to be free from interference and to uphold the principles of justice and democracy. He also paid homage to the Constitution of India and the Supreme Court, calling them the pillars of democracy. The retirement of the three judges leaves a significant impact on the Supreme Court, which is already grappling with a backlog of pending cases. However, their legacy will continue to inspire and guide the judiciary as it strives to uphold the principles of justice and fairness. The farewell ceremony of the retiring judges was also an occasion for reflection about the role of the judiciary in society. It highlighted the immense responsibility that comes with the power to interpret the law and to protect the rights of citizens. As Justice Joseph eloquently put it, “In the end, it is not the individual judges who matter, but the institution of justice that stands for the rights and freedoms of the people.” The Supreme Court of India has always been known for its independence and its unwavering commitment to justice. As three of its most distinguished judges retire, the institution can take pride in the fact that it has been strengthened by their contributions and their unwavering dedication to the cause of justice. https://inflationprotection.org/live-coverage-of-the-supreme-court-sc-bids-farewell-to-three-retiring-judges-including-km-joseph/?feed_id=106079&_unique_id=6483d8c9211dc #Inflation #Retirement #GoldIRA #Wealth #Investing #cjichandrachud #JusticeAjayRastogi #justiceajayrastogiretires #justicekmjoseph #justicekmjosephretires #JusticeVRamasubramanian #scceremonialbench #SCjudgesretirementbench #sclive #SupremeCourt #supremecourtceremonialbench #supremecourtlive #whoarethethreejudgesretiringtoday #InheritedIRA #cjichandrachud #JusticeAjayRastogi #justiceajayrastogiretires #justicekmjoseph #justicekmjosephretires #JusticeVRamasubramanian #scceremonialbench #SCjudgesretirementbench #sclive #SupremeCourt #supremecourtceremonialbench #supremecourtlive #whoarethethreejudgesretiringtoday
