You can become a millionaire by investing in S&P500 low fee index funds through a Roth IRA. If you are starting at age 35 and you put in the maximum contribution of 6000 per year and make a minimal return of 8% per year you will easily become a millionaire. Roth IRA calculators online only go up to 5500 but the new maximum is 6000, so you should do even better than their predictions. Owning your own home and getting a Roth IRA you can easily become a millionaire all by yourself but you can do even better if you use a 401k or marry someone who also has a decent career. Two people with a very good income could easily be worth ten million by age 65 when they retire even though the start in their mid-30s.
